The very first Pink Party!

I saw a little Facebook reminder pop up in my feed this morning. One year ago today I was sitting in the Drakensberg, in my bed with a book and a pen. It’s been exactly one year since I first started planning for an idea that actually happened last week.

I had an idea for a workshop like no other. A beautiful space of inspiration, conversation and learning for creative entrepreneurs. I’ve been preparing for this workshop over many months, but it wasn’t until I guest spoke about branding at another workshop in July that I decided to just go for it. I would never feel prepared enough, and I realised that I simply had to take a leap of faith and see if people would believe in my idea – and they did!

I specialise in the branding of creative businesses, but after going through a specific rebranding process for my own business, I realised that I have a real passion for building businesses that stretch far beyond just the visual aspect of it all. I wanted to share this process with other creatives and see what we could learn from each other when it came to branding, marketing and building community for our businesses.

The workshop was designed to help business owners lay a solid foundation before they even consider a logo design. I help them to focus their brand by analysing their spot in the market, setting precise and manageable goals and defining their brand personality and values. I also explain the branding process and how they can streamline their branding so the business works harder for them, instead of the other way around. We also looked at the all-important digital environment and how we can use social media to place our brands directly in front of the right people.

After two months of pulling everything together and lining up a fabulous group of 18 it was time to get up and dance. I was terrified to stand up and present my ideas to such a group of super talented and savvy people, but it went better than I ever could have imagined! I’d love to give a special thanks to every person that attended this first workshop. They had nothing to go on as far as what it would actually be like, but they trusted in my ability enough to take their own little leaps of faith and buy a spot. Every single person brought a wonderful energy to the party and we had some really interesting and insightful conversations throughout the two-day workshop.

I’ll be putting up some more information about the next workshop soon, but here’s a couple of pictures to show our vibe and how it all came together. I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to host this workshop at Landtscap, one of the most beautiful venues in Stellenbosch. It was the perfect setting and the service and hospitality of their staff is just mind-blowing.

I also had two wonderful creatives on board to shoot the workshop on camera and video. Thanks so much to Angelique Smith and Marius from MVR films for showing up and rocking it!

A real treat for me was the fact that I could give away some fantastic tote bags from Hello Dolly Designs that included goodies from the talented Maria MagdalenaLulu & MarulaThe Letterpress CompanyPrestwich CollectionM.StudioLittle Green Box and more! Also, massive thanks to Wetink for printing our manuals and stationery, and Hotink for sponsoring some super pretty wooden cut-outs. Thanks to each and every sponsor that made the workshop goodie bags so wonderful, I’m eternally grateful for your generosity! I believe that these faces tell it all

If you would like to get on the mailing list for the next workshop, please enter your details here and I will be in touch within the next couple of weeks.

All of these beautiful photos were taken by my friend Angelique Smith!
